Privacy Policy

How my apps and this website handle your information. It covers PowerEQ, PowerDuck, EQ Studio, PowerCut and any other software I publish, plus rafaelludwig.com.

The short version
  • Your audio and video never leave your Mac. All processing happens locally, including PowerCut's speech transcription, which runs on your Mac's own Neural Engine. Nothing is uploaded, streamed or analyzed anywhere else, ever.
  • No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry. The apps contain no tracking or usage-reporting code of any kind.
  • This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising trackers.
  • The only personal information I hold is what you give me: your purchase record (through Payhip), your email if you subscribe, and anything you send me for support.

What the apps send, and what they don't

My apps and plugins work offline. They connect to the internet in these situations, and no others:

That is the complete list. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, no usage tracking, no advertising identifier, and no "phone home" of any kind.

A note on PowerCut and "AI". PowerCut transcribes your footage to find filler words and silences, and it does this with a speech recognition model that runs on your own Mac, on the Apple Neural Engine. Your media is never uploaded to a cloud service, no third-party AI provider is involved, nothing you edit is used to train any model, and the app works offline once the model has been downloaded.

Some apps can write a diagnostic log to help me investigate a problem you report, but that log stays on your Mac, is off unless you turn it on, and is never transmitted anywhere. If it is useful for support, you choose whether to send it to me.

This website

Buying and licensing

Purchases are handled by Payhip, which acts as the seller of record. Payhip collects the information needed to complete a sale, including your name, email address and payment details. I never see or store your card details. What reaches me is the order record: name, email address, what you bought, and the tax country where required.

Your license key and the number of machines it has been activated on are held by Payhip so that activation works. See Payhip's privacy policy for how they handle your data.

Email

I send occasional product news and update announcements through EmailOctopus, and only to people who chose to receive them. Every email includes an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately. I do not sell, rent or share the list with anyone.

Support conversations

When you email support, I keep the conversation for as long as it takes to help you, and to recognise a follow-up later. Some apps can point you at the crash reports macOS already writes on your Mac so you can attach one if you want to; nothing is ever sent automatically, and you decide what to include. Be aware that macOS crash logs normally contain system information and file paths, which is what makes them useful for diagnosis. You can ask me to delete any support correspondence at any time.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me to show you what personal information I hold about you, correct it, or delete it. If you are in the EU, the UK, or a US state with a privacy law such as California, you also have the right to a copy of your data, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. I do not sell personal information and never have.

To make any of these requests, email apps@rafaelludwig.com. I will respond within 30 days. For purchase data held by Payhip, you can contact them directly as well, and I will help if that is easier.

How long things are kept

Children

My software and this site are made for video and audio professionals and are not directed at children under 16. I do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date below changes with it, and anything significant will be called out in the release notes or an email to subscribers. I will not quietly start collecting something new.
